Growing areas –

The original home of the Mango tree
is in Assam-Burma region.

As thousands of the year the Mango
trees are grown in India from Himalayas to the South India.
General Information –

This tree is Hardy.
2.
It is evergreen.
3.
It grows fairly fast arid (having
little or no rain) in it’s wild state can grow enormous size (very large in
site).
4. This trees are mostly known for their
fruit.
5. There is no record about the life span of the Mango tree, but it can live longer than hundred year.

LEAVES OF THE MANGO TREE -
1. The leaves are lance-shaped and leathery.

The leaves are smooth and are grouped
at the end of the branches.
3.
When the leaves of the Mango tree are
crushed they give off the strong smell of the sap.
FLOWERS OF THE MANGO TREE –

The main flowering season is spring
from December onwards.

In some parts of the country the
flowers are grow in year other times.

The flowers are tiny, pale, four or
five petalled and pyramid shaped.

They grow together on a branching stalk.
5.
They have a strong pleasant, perfume
that attracts the insects and bats.

Not all the flowers are capable to
produce a fruit, only few flowers are capable of producing fruit.
7. The Mango fruit is also known as the king of the fruits.
FRUIT OF THE MANGO TREE –

There are thousands of varieties of Mangoes.

Most of the trees bear fruits in summer
but there are many tree that bears fruit throughout the year.

However, not all the fruits are good
to eat, some wild mangoes taste very bitter and unpleasant.
USES OF THE MANGO TREE –

The of the Mango tree is used for
making the furniture, boats and dugouts but is soft and last for very short
time, but it has longer life under water.
2.
The fruit of the Mango tree contain Vitamin
C.
3.
Mango leaves are used to decorate
houses on festive occasions.
4.
The fruit is regarded as being the
nectar of the gods.
